Whatever you think Universities are doing about antisemitism, it is on the rise in ways I can’t imagine from my days in school. I’ve read enough times that “I haven’t seen one example of it!” Apparently, you guys were boycotting national news when this happened. Many schools still provide added security to Hillels and other Jewish groups. Most of the instances are like the one described in the article - kid goes to class to find a “Kike Fuck” or some such scrawled in green and white and placed under his computer. Rise in rhetoric like that on social media (which you and others on the left had no trouble seeing as antisemitism when you see it from the right or amplified by Elon Musk). If we wait until one of these example manifests in actual physical violence, I’d say we’ve waited too long.

I know you think I’m crazy sensitive because I’m Jewish. I disagree - I have been talking about this rise in wokeness or postmodernism or whatever you want to call it for a long time before Oct 7. Current events are simply manifesting it in sweeping generalizations about Israel and all Jews by extension. What frustrates me, is that you all look so much like the in-group “circling the wagons” psychology which was described in that book I keep pushing (A Barack Obama recommendation and Anne Applebaum “must read” for all fans of liberal democracy, so not a MAGA book), you could be one of his experiments in it.

Here you ape the “literally Hitler” cop outs from Trumpies over analogies to Hitler. I’ve seen others ape perfectly Trumpistan’s “enemy of the people” dismissal of press reports they don’t want to see.

For the record, that’s what frustrates me so much. Absence of critical thought that reminds me of the mindless defenses of “good people on both sides” 6 years ago. Then, they were circling the wagons around Trump. Here, the left seems to feel a need to circle the wagons around academia, no matter how many alarms are raised, by people in academia who are not MAGA. Like Applebaum, or Steven Pinker, or Yascha Mounk, or Ferguson.
